The United Nations War Crimes Commission's task was to collect, investigate, and record evidence of war crimes, and to report this evidence to governments concerned. The Commission did not prosecute, but decided if there was sufficient evidence to warrant listing people charged as war criminals to be detained and prosecuted by member governments.
